Introducing Career Conversations, a Podcast from Verus Search…

I’m delighted to introduce Career Conversations, a new podcast from Verus Search, created to explore the career journeys and leadership experiences of some of Northern Ireland’s most successful and interesting business leaders.

Since launching Verus Search, I have had the opportunity to speak with senior leaders, business owners and executives from organisations across Northern Ireland, the UK and Ireland. One of the things I enjoy most about what I do is hearing the stories behind people’s careers. Very few are completely straightforward. There are risks taken, opportunities that appear unexpectedly, difficult decisions, setbacks and, invariably, people who have influenced the journey along the way.

Career Conversations has been created to share some of those stories.

Across each episode, I’ll sit down with CEOs, business owners and senior leaders to explore where their careers began, the decisions and defining moments that have shaped them, and what they have learned along the way.

Importantly, the conversations will also explore leadership. What does good leadership look like? How does your approach change as your responsibilities grow? What qualities do successful leaders look for when building their own teams? And what advice would they give to the next generation aspiring to senior leadership?

These are conversations I believe can offer genuine value to people at different stages of their careers. For someone aspiring to their first management or leadership position, there is an opportunity to learn from people who have already travelled that path. For established executives and business owners, I hope the different experiences and perspectives of our guests will provide ideas and reflections that are equally relevant.

There is also a more personal side to the podcast. Senior leadership brings considerable commitment and responsibility, so I want to understand the person beyond their job title, including how they approach life outside of work and find time for the people and interests that matter to them.

A new episode of Career Conversations will be released approximately every six weeks, with guests from a range of industries, organisations and career backgrounds. While their journeys will be very different, the common thread will be an opportunity to learn from their experiences and gain a better understanding of the people behind senior leadership roles.
