Operations & Compliance Manager
Verus Search has been retained by an award-winning, family-owned transport and logistics company as they seek to appoint an experienced Operations & Compliance Manager. As a leading provider of road freight services across Ireland and the UK, our client supports a diverse customer base across multiple sectors. Working closely with the Senior Management Team, the Operations & Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and compliant running of transport operations across Ireland and the UK. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on management of daily performance, ensuring that operations meet both commercial objectives and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will provide leadership across depots, drive continuous improvement, and act as the company’s key point of contact for compliance matters. They should demonstrate strong technical knowledge of ROI and UK transport legislation, exceptional organisational and leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex, multi-site operations in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate should demonstrate a structured approach to operational leadership, a proactive attitude towards problem-solving, and the confidence to influence and collaborate across teams. They should possess the following skills and experience:
10+ years’ experience in an operational management role within transport or logistics, overseeing daily operations and performance.
5+ years’ experience in transport compliance, ideally as a named Transport Manager on an Operator’s Licence.
In-depth understanding of ROI and UK transport legislation and Operator Licence regimes.
CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) holder.
Proven experience managing large fleets across multiple depots.
Strong leadership skills, with experience managing both office staff and drivers.
Skilled in operating and developing transport management systems.
Strong communication, organisational, and reporting skills, with the ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Experience in sustainability or environmental reporting would be advantageous, as would a background in cross-border fleet management and audit preparation.
The role requires the ability and willingness to travel regularly between depots in Ireland and the UK.
