Pharmacy Group Operations Manager

Co. Donegal – Multi-site (relocation support available)
Permanent – Full time
An attractive senior salary with performance-related bonus and benefits package

Verus Search has been retained by Brennan’s Pharmacy Group as they seek to appoint a Group Operations Manager for a new role within the business.

With a strong reputation for excellence in patient care and service, Brennans Pharmacy Group’s mission is to help their patients and customers live healthier and happier lives. The award-winning business is truly guided by their values and a forward-thinking approach to technology, systems, and operational efficiency. Brennans Pharmacy Group currently operates four community pharmacies across Co. Donegal in Letterkenny, Buncrana, Clonmany and Creeslough.

This is a non-clinical operations leadership role - you'll be the operational backbone of the group. You will be responsible for keeping standards consistent, improving systems, and making sure day-to-day operations run efficiently and effectively across all four sites. Working closely with the Managing Director, you will execute operational responsibilities and deliver results in-line with the strategic prioritise of the business.

This is a newly created role established as the Managing Director transitions from operational management to strategic leadership after 33 years of building the business. The position carries genuine operational authority, not a supervisory role reporting upward on decisions.

Key focus:

  • Own rotas, cover planning, and operating standards across a 7-day operation.

  • Coordinate and manage Pharmacist Managers and Retail Supervisors, including performance and accountability.

  • Build and own the operational scorecard; embed SOPs and follow-through across all sites.

  • Maintain high standards of compliance and patient safety.

  • Oversee digital operations, including managing the eCommerce / Digital Admin Specialist and embedding digital services into everyday workflows.

Essential experience & skills:

  • Proven operations leadership in community pharmacy or a closely related healthcare retail environment. Ideally 3+ years managing complex operations with multiple teams or locations.

  • A strong people-management track record to include recruitment and performance management

  • Demonstrable experience of operating and developing business systems and operational structures.

  • Commercially aware, with sound judgement around margins, cost control, and priorities

  • Comfortable working within established frameworks, improving what's there rather than constantly rebuilding

  • Strong cultural fit with a values-driven organisation - we prioritise direct communication, personal accountability, and genuinely caring about the people we serve and work with

  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between Donegal locations

Remuneration & benefits:

  • Attractive salary with performance-related bonus

  • Company electric vehicle or car allowance plus all business travel expenses covered

  • Role-relevant training and development support

  • Direct Managing Director support with regular 1:1s

  • Real operational autonomy, including clear authority to lead day-to-day operations, make operational decisions, and hold site leaders accountable across the group

  • Relocation support available if required (further information available upon request)

Would you be interested in relocating to Co. Donegal?

Donegal's coastline, mountains, and outdoor amenities are close at hand, offering a quality of life that's increasingly hard to combine with senior roles in larger urban centres. For those relocating from high-cost cities, rental accommodation is significantly more affordable. Family homes in and around Letterkenny are available to purchase at prices materially lower than those in major Irish cities, making long-term home ownership a realistic option.

The role offers senior responsibility without the personal time cost often associated with large city commuting, supporting a more balanced and sustainable working week.

All applicants must have the right to work in Ireland. Brennans Pharmacy Group cannot consider applicants who require visa sponsorship.
