Technical Director
Verus Search has been retained by an industry leading manufacturer of window and door systems to appoint a Technical Director. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service, our client supplies both the commercial and residential markets across the UK and Ireland with high-performance, sustainable solutions.
As a key member of the senior leadership team and board, the Technical Director will oversee all design, product development, tooling, and process improvement initiatives, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with commercial goals. Working collaboratively across the business, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving product innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting long-term growth. The Technical Director will lead a multi-disciplinary team, support cross-functional collaboration, and maintain close relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure products are delivered on time, to specification, and to the highest standards of quality.
The role requires a hands-on, solutions-focused leader with strong project delivery skills and a track record of technical leadership within a manufacturing environment. They will also require the following experience:
Significant hands-on experience of the technology and processes involved with new product design, testing and manufacturing.
Significant knowledge of the Fenestration industry and the technicalities of the workings of windows and doors including gaskets and glazing.
Significant experience of extrusion technology & processes, structural calculations and thermal simulations.
A proven ability to lead new product introduction within a manufacturing environment.
Robust knowledge of building regulations, standards, testing and certification for load bearings, energy ratings, u-values and acoustics.
IT skills to include AutoCAD 2D & 3D, Solidworks 3D, MS Project (or similar), and Product Data Management systems.
